This scenic South Carolina landscape photograph of two seagulls has a soft, watercolor quality. I achieved this softness by intentionally throwing most of the image into soft focus: only a bit of the foam on the beach between the gulls and the sea surf is in focus like you would find in a traditional image. It’s as if you are just catching a glimpse of the gulls and surf on a day where a light mist blows off the blue water. It has a definite atmosphere or mood.
