This barn owl is so cute she doesn’t seem like a fierce raptor or bird of prey, but she is. Barn owls have great hearing and use echo location to locate prey. They often rock back and forth from one foot to the other in a gentle sway as they listen to the forest around them. Because they have a large, nearly white, moon-shaped face, barn owls are sometimes called ghost owls or spirit owls. This sweet owl is framed perfectly in the doorway of a little red barn.
